Mooring Permit Renewals Due 5/1/25
Mooring permits must be renewed by May 1, 2025. Please complete one Mooring Permit Application for each mooring owned. Mooring fees are $10 for a renewal or $30 for a new mooring, due to the Town Office after completing the application. Please direct questions to Harbor Master Ted Christie at (207) 882-9005 or harbormasterwestportisland@gmail.com.
On June 10, 2025 there will be a municipal election to elect the positions of Select Board Member #1 and Road Commissioner. Donna Curry has qualified for the ballot to run for re-election to Select Board Member #1, and Jim Cromwell has qualified for the ballot to run for re-election to Road Commissioner.
The RSU #12 budget will also most likely be on the ballot. The school budget needs to be approved at both a district wide budget meeting, and by each town individually on their local ballots. The initial district-wide vote is on Wed., 5/21/25 at 6:30 PM at the Chelsea Elementary School at 560 Togus Rd., Chelsea. Westport Island voters may attend and vote, and the voter registrar will be present to register new voters. If the RSU #12 budget passes at the meeting, it will appear on our 6/10/25 local ballot. See the RSU #12 Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Budget Presentation for more information.
Absentee ballot applications are available from the town office or by printing off a copy online and returning to the Town Clerk. Absentee voting will begin on 5/13/25. Please see the Notice of Election for details.
The Town Meeting is on June 21st, and preparations are underway! If you've got any thoughts on our ordinances, ideas for projects, or general input about the direction of the town, let the Select Board know at selectboard@westportisland.gov or (207) 882-8477, x.4.
Mark your calendars for two "Warrant Preview & Feedback Sessions" on Fri., 5/16/25 and Thu., 5/22/25, both at 6:00 PM at the Town Hall on 1217 Main Rd.
If you need any accessibility accommodations, please let us know ahead of time by emailing townclerk@westportisland.gov. There will be a wheelchair accessible porta potty available.
As I'm sure you've noticed, our new electric sign is up and running! Many thanks to all the people who pitched in to make this happen, particularly Gaye Wagner for laying the groundwork, and Jim Cromwell for laying the literal groundwork. Now please bear with me as I figure out how to work the thing and email me at townclerk@westportisland.gov with feedback.
